I would like to book a Piaget suite, please!

Just one day before the Oscars, another film award gala took place in Los Angeles: Film Independent Spirit Awards 2013, a ceremony in which the achievements of today’s independent filmmakers are recognized each year.

What does it have to do with my jewelry blog? Well, it has a lot as Piaget was the official sponsor of the Film Independent Spirit Awards. The company booked a suite on the top floor of the Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel a few days before the event and “decorated” it with fine jewelry and watches ready to be picked by the stylists and stars who later participated at the gala.

The pictures taken at the award ceremony are available on Piaget’s Instagram page. I can’t help however to show you the photograph that caught my attention the most: actress Stephanie Crayencour wearing Piaget Couture Précieuse necklace Diamond Embroidery Inspiration - crafted in 18K white gold set with 1513 brilliant-cut diamonds (approx. 44.19 cts), 133 baguette-cut diamonds (approx. 16.77 cts), 4 pear-shaped diamonds (approx. 7.55 cts) and 11 rose-cut diamonds (approx. 5.96 cts).

Maybe because I’ve recently seen the necklace in a luxury magazine and I loved it the very first moment I laid my eyes on it. J

66 years since New Look, Dior's first haute couture collection

This month House of Dior celebrates 66 years since its first fashion show. On 12 February 1947, Christian Dior presented his very first haute couture collection and the house’s first perfume called Miss Dior.

A lot of time to sum up the extraordinary fashion collections, exceptional fragrances and amazing fine jewelry.

Here are some jewels from three different collections signed by House of Dior:

Ring in 18K yellow gold and diamonds, My Dior Collection

Earrings in 18k white gold and diamonds, Rose Dior Bagatelle Collection

Dentelle Chantilly Multicolore Ring, Dear Dior Collection

Lovin’ Turquoise

I've always had a predilection for Turquoise jewelry and I know a lot of people who have it. I actually have many friends who like Turquoise jewels as much as I do.

Most people respond positively to Turquoise as it is believed to be a color of faith and truth that heals and comforts us.

You might have seen a lot of Turquoise in the fashion scene in 2010 as it was designated the color of the year back then.

As Pantone's experts approve, Turquoise pairs nicely with any other color in the spectrum. Turquoise adds a splash of excitement to neutrals colors and all shades of brown, complements reds and pinks, creates a classic maritime look with deep blues, lights up all other greens, and is especially trend-setting with yellow-greens.

It’s a fact that Turquoise is a great accent color in jewelry.

Every woman’s jewelry love affair

Every woman dreams of amazing jewelry to wear, from her personal collection. If not, I am sure that there are just a few women who don’t like wearing jewelry that it doesn't even count. So we could generalize the fact that girls love jewelry and have a special relation with their gems and accessories.

First time I heard about Elizabeth Taylor's "My Love Affair with Jewelry" book I fell in love with this expression. It is so compelling and it describes very well the connection that we all make with our jewelry. As Elizabeth Taylor said, “I've never thought of my jewelry as trophies. I'm here to take care of it and to love it, for we are only temporary custodians of beauty."

We cherish and consider jewelry one of our most important assets as it represents us and becomes a continuation of our personality. It completes us and we are proud to wear it, whether it is our own purchase or heritage from our mother or grandmother. We pass it on to the next generations and this is how jewelry bonds the women in the same family through history. It also connects its wearer with others as our accessories, together with the way we dress, talk and behave, contribute to the way others perceive us as individuals.

It is known that Elizabeth Taylor has a predilection for BVLGARI jewelry and two of her most amazing jewels were the magnificent diamond and emerald necklace in platinum and the brooch with emeralds and diamonds that could be worn as a pendant on it.
