Sensuality

When, in the same day, you’re reading one of Henry Miller's books, watching Henry and June and coming across this amazing collection of Carrera Y Carrera, there is no way of remaining indifferent to the odds of finding this leitmotif everywhere: sensuality.

As Katerina Perez puts it, it is a beautiful union of fine jewelry and sculptural art.

Sources of inspiration

Searching through jewelry collections, you might easily observe that the sources of inspiration have been the same for many jewelry designers over time. Nature, characters of legend, love, universe and others, that’s life as we know it that is reflected within their work. It is something that applied 100 or 50 years ago and this is how it still goes today. The difference is in detail and the final creation depends on one’s personal touch and craftsmanship. It is art in all the cases and you can hardly say which creation is more beautiful than the other. It’s a matter of taste I think.

Take these examples for instance: jewelry belonging to similar collections (I’m referring to their theme) from Carrrera Y Carrera (a Spanish brand with more than 125 years of jewelry tradition) and Jewellery Theatre (a young Russian brand since ’98).

Ode to the sea

I love the sea! Every time I go to the seaside I come back with such a good state of mind. Its color comforts me, the sound of waves is music to my ears, the sea gulls are a confirmation that I’m in the right place and the sky above brings the perfect touch to the amazing scenery.

Please receive my invitation to catch a glimpse of the sea through the color of these gems:

Antique aquamarine, diamond and pearl pendant brooch, c.1900. S.J. Phillips Ltd

Tiffany & Co. bracelet five rows of tanzanite beads, perfectly finished by a clasp of diamonds and mil-grained platinum

Cartier Art Deco aquamarine and diamond necklace/brooch

Tiffany & Co. pendant with a cushion-cut tsavorite and an Art Deco motif of leaves with diamonds in platinum

RING GENUINE DELIGHT OCEAN by WELLENDORFF

Aquamarine Diamond Sapphire Platinum Long Dangle Earrings, via Fourtane
Tantalum and yellow gold ring via Sabion

I couldn't find any reference for this ring but it's perfect for this story so I've decided to include it anyway. It's too beautiful to be ignored and it has a touch of the sea in it, don't you think?

Now listen to this song and watch the video, then admire the jewelry items once again.
